Welcome to this new journey that will take you to know the most important things about block explorers, and especially Bit2Me Explorer.
EThe following article belongs to a guide called “Thorough Blockchain Explorer”Consisting of 4 chapters. Before we begin to explain the first details about a blockchain explorer like Bit2Me Explorer, it is important to be clear about a couple of concepts.
Firstly, Bit2Me Explorer It is not the Bitcoin blockchain itself. A browser is simply a web application that we can use to navigate through the information stored in the Bitcoin blockchain or any other cryptocurrency. In other words, a block browser would be like a web browser, which allows us to visit the different websites that are part of the Internet. The analogy is the same, it is only a tool to access information, that we can review and understand it.
On the other hand, the information stored in the Bitcoin blockchain and the nodes. that make up their network is public and open. So anyone with programming skills can install a full node (BitcoinCore) on a computer. From there you can "listen to events" on the Bitcoin blockchain and know what is happening in real time. This does not mean that the information can be intercepted and manipulated since everything is strongly encrypted.
This is the process that we carry out from Bit2Me Explorer. On the web there are dozens of browsers (most open source or free software). All of them follow a very similar structure since they try to reflect the same state of the network. Tomorrow anyone can create a website that does the same as the dozens that already exist. Or even give it a few laps to do something better that doesn't exist yet. However, Bit2Me Explorer is one more informative element that joins the ecosystem that Bit2Me supports and creates for everyone.
Why is it important to clarify this from the beginning?
On certain occasions, users, or some press groups, tended to associate a crash in a block explorer with problems with the blockchain. With the above we have made it clear that this is not the case. That is why we have prepared this series of posts to explain in detail what a typical Bitcoin blockchain explorer is and how it works.
In this sense, the following words will focus on making everything related to block explorers very clear. And all this, protected by the capabilities that Bit2Me Explorer has to offer you.
About Bit2Me Explorer
At Bit2Me we have created Bit2Me Explorer, as a bitcoin wallet and block exploration service. It was launched with the idea of offering information about the latest blocks, transactions and addresses that were on the network for our users and the rest of the community. In this article that will be the first part of several related to Bit2Me Explorer In our guide, we will start with an introduction to the interface and its essential parts so that you can position yourself and finally end up controlling it 100%.
Elements that make up Bit2Me Explorer
Homepage
This is the main page that we find when accessing Bit2Me Explorer. As soon as you enter you will find 2 clearly identified parts. In the first section «Latest Blocks» you will be able to see all recently mined blocks.
Here you will be shown in detail 5 columns with the following information:
- Block Height: This is the number of blocks since Bitcoin's genesis block was mined. Each new mined block represents an increase of 1 to the block height.
- Date: The time since a specific block has been resolved. The higher it appears in the table, the newer the block is.
- Transactions: is the number of transactions that have been included within that block.
- Mined by: indicates who has solved that block. Generally the name of the pool that has been in charge of solving the block.
- Block size (bytes): is the size of the block, obtained from the sum of the sizes of each of the transactions entered into it.
Observing all the blocks
If you click the button View all You will be able to display the complete list of blocks registered in the Bitcoin blockchain. The system will show you a small calendar where you can select the dates you want to explore.
