Ronin Wallet is the wallet created by Sky Mavis to be able to interact with the Ronin Chain sidechain and thus enjoy one of the biggest Play2Earn games that exist in the crypto world: Axie Infinity. If you are interested in delving deeper into this game, we recommend this Academy tutorial to learn how to connect to Axie Infinity and its basic gameplay.
Lhe generation of the Ronin Chain was the solution created by Sky Mavis to fight against the high commissions of the Ethereum network and thus improve the gameplay of Axie Infinity.
Ronin Wallet is a complete Web3-enabled solution to allow you to manage your tokens within the Ronin Chain ecosystem, as well as to give you access to the entire GameFi framework that has been built around this game. From using Katana to exchange tokens, using the Bridge to transfer tokens between networks like ETH or Polygon to the Ronin Chain, making direct purchases using fiat or staking AXS – all of this is possible thanks to the capabilities offered by the Ronin Wallet.
How to install and configure your Ronin Wallet?
Installing the Ronin Wallet is quite simple, as the wallet has support for Chrome (and derivatives) and Firefox web browsers, as well as offering support for Android and iOS smartphones. Knowing this, you can begin to choose and install the wallet in the medium that best suits your needs. In this case we will install Ronin Wallet in the Firefox browser to show the entire configuration process of our wallet.
Starting the installation
To install Ronin Wallet on Firefox, the first thing you need to do is go to the firefox extensions website. From there, all you have to do is click “Add to Firefox” to start the installation:
At this point you just have to wait a moment for the installation to finish and then you can start with the configuration. In case you use Chrome (or derivatives such as Edge Chromium, Brave or Opera) you can use the Google Chrome extensions store, following this link.
Starting the Ronin Wallet setup
Once the wallet is installed in your browser you must start configuring it. To do this, you just have to click on “Get Started” and with this the configuration process will begin.
At this point we will be shown the configuration home screen in which we must select the option «I'm new. Let's get set up!». This option allows you to set up a Ronin wallet from scratch, while the other option is only for those who have already created a Ronin wallet and have the corresponding seed phrase in their possession.
The next option is to enable tracking of certain activities and usage of the Ronin wallet. The policy is similar to the one used in MetaMask, tracking the use and possible errors that you may have in your wallet, in order to improve it. You have the option to accept the tracking or simply reject it, which will not affect the configuration of the wallet itself.
Generating the password for Ronin Wallet
The next point is the creation of our password for the wallet. At this point you must be very careful, we recommend that you generate at least a 12-character password, using numbers, letters (lower and upper case) and symbols. The security of this password is equivalent to the security of your funds, so choose a good password and keep it in a safe place.
A good example of a password for this case would be something like:
$4Lv4G3#R0n1n$
Finally, when entering the password, we recommend that you keep it in a safe place. At this point, your browser will likely ask you to save the password in its built-in manager. Reject that option, because that is definitely not a safe place for this type of information.
Endorsing the seed phrase
Finally you get to the point of having the seed phrase of your wallet. You must write down this data as it appears on the screen without errors of any kind and then save it in a very safe way. This seed phrase will be very useful to recover your wallet in case you lose access or simply migrate to another platform.
Once you have backed up your seed phrase, the next thing you have to do is confirm it and once this process is finished you will be able to access your Ronin wallet.
Using our Ronin Wallet
Using the Ronin Wallet is quite similar to using MetaMask, since this wallet allows us to interact with the DApps designed by Sky Mavis within the Ronin Chain. When opening our wallet we can quickly see our balance in RON token (the native token of the Ronin Chain), as well as some tokens supported by the Ronin Wallet. Among these we have WETH, AXS, SLP, USDC on the side of the RCC-20 tokens (equivalent to Ethereum's ERC-20 tokens) and NFTs such as Axies, LAND or Charm from the Axie Infinity game (under the RCC-721 standard, equivalent to Ethereum's ERC-721).
In addition, we can also see the options to deposit, transfer and exchange tokens using our wallet, which places all the basic functions of our Ronin wallet.
Thus, for example, if we want to add balance to the Ronin Wallet we can do it by any of these means:
- Buy AXS at Bit2Me. In this case, the AXS you buy is of type ERC-20 (on the Ethereum network) and you will be able to pass it to the Ronin Wallet using the Bridge, which you can use with your Bit2Me wallet and your Ronin.
- You can buy AXS and RON directly using the “Deposit” option, where you can buy RON, AXS, SLP and WETH tokens directly. This second option is the preferred one to buy RON, the native token of the Ronin Chain, which allows you to carry out transactions on said network.
Connecting your wallet to Katana
Finally, your Ronin Wallet is your entry pass to the GameFi universe of Axie Infinity, which is available at katana. Katana is a decentralized application (DApp) that allows the exchange of tokens using the Ronin Wallet, as well as farming and staking. To use this DApp, simply go to the Web and our wallet will automatically connect to it.
With this, Ronin Wallet allows its users to enjoy everything that the Ronin Chain offers and the GameFi ecosystem that develops on this network.
